The variety of ecosystems and virgin forests and the commitment of people to protect and enjoy them is remarkable in Costa Rica. Monteverde is a small community in the mountains of northern Costa Rica, just over 2 hours from the capital and the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia.

Monteverde is a community founded by a mixture of American Quaker immigrants and Costa Rican country people.
