San Jose

San José is the capital. It is in the Central Valley. The city offers many options for hotel accommodations and has several historic buildings such as the Melico Salazar Theater, National Museum, Metal Building, Children’s Museum, Costa Rican Art and Design Museum, Museum of Jade (recently renovated).

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

Monteverde is privileged and internationally recognized thanks to its natural exuberance. Part of the fascination generated by this beautiful area comes from its diversity of landscapes. The variety of ecosystems and virgin forests and the commitment of people to protect and enjoy them is remarkable in Costa Rica. Monteverde is a community founded by a mixture of American Quaker immigrants and Costa Rican country people.

At the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, you can embrace the misty atmosphere, which serves as one of the most coveted ecotourism destinations in Costa Rica. The reserve encompasses a 26,000-acre biozone, brimming with a wonderful diversity of wildlife and plant life. There is no doubt that the Monteverde Cloud Forest is a true paradise for nature lovers.

Arenal Volcano National Park

Arenal Volcano National Park is known for its hot springs, active Arenal Volcano, and wildlife, including jaguars and tree frogs. Within the national park, short trails pass through secondary forest as well as lava fields from previous eruptions.

A growing tourism industry has taken advantage of this natural resource to heat up pools and fountains for the amusement of visitors, together with activities such as mountain biking, canopy rides, horseback riding and kayaking on the lake.

Tenorio Volcano National Park

The Tenorio Volcano National Park offers natural scenic overlooks that allow appreciate the plains of the Pacific and Caribbean. “It is a magical place that offers a variety of possibilities to appreciate the wonders of nature and difficult to find phenomena. It is the main geographical feature of the eponymous Tenorio Volcano National Park.  The Rio Celeste is an amazing shade of blue because of the sulfur that is emitted by the volcanic activity in the park.

Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste Province

Playa Hermosa is known for its popular beach and beach-front resort town. People who visit Playa Hermosa can indulge in swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving, sport fishing or sailing.

The beautiful Playa Hermosa  is just 20 minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, and it’s considered as one of the best maintained beaches in the country.

After passing through migration and customs, you can meet your Costa Rica Travel Adventures English Speaking Guide and your Spanish Driver.  The guide will be holding a sign with your name on it.
Transfer to your hotel afterwards; transfer time is approximately 50 minutes.

After breakfast-8:00am approx.  You will be met by your Service Guide and your driver at the Park Inn' lobby . Transfer from San José to the area of Monteverde Cloud Forest. Driving time is approximately 3 hours.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is located between the provinces of Alajuela and Puntarenas and has an elevation of 1,600 meters above sea level. Incredible views through the hanging suspension bridges, which extend through canyons and connect to the hiking trails, giving you the same canopy experience. It also offers 13 km of trails that will make for a great day of hiking.

Full day to enjoy and explore the Monteverde area
Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve-Shared Tour.

Early morning transfer by your Local Naturalist Guide, and Driver to the Monteverde Reserve (20 minutes transfer ).

Your Local Guide will take you on a 4.5-hour nature tour through the mountainous forest, helping you spot everything from tiny orchids on a fallen branch to camouflaged hummingbirds, bringing home the complexity of the cloud forest.

The main purpose of this tour is to experience the incredible interconnectivity of the rich biodiversity found in the cloud forest. At the end of your hike.

The overwhelming and extensive biodiversity,  vegetation and animal population make the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve an acclaimed world-wide nature refuge.

After breakfast (pick up- 7:30am approx.), depart in a shared transfer Van-Boat-Van to the area of Arenal via Lake Arenal Boat crossing. Nice combination of ground and water transportation used as a ‘’shortcut’’ between the areas of Monteverde and La Fortuna.

Lenght of the transfer is approximately 2 ½ hours (depending on wind and road conditions).

The Arenal Volcano National Park is one of the most popular places to visit. It is considered a living laboratory due to the complexity of biological processes carried out within it.

Full day to enjoy and explore the area of Arenal and its surroundings: La Fortuna Waterfall Hike-Shared Tour.

Meet your Local Naturalist Guide and Spanish Speaking Driver at your lodge and drive for about half an hour (depending on your location) to La Fortuna Waterfall. At the base of the waterfall there is a natural pool where you can refresh in the cool waters of La Fortuna River. After some time enjoying this natural site, you must climb the steps again to reach the parking area and reception.

After completing the walk to the waterfall, you drive to an interesting place called “Arenal Vida Campesina” (Arenal Countryside Life) for a buffet lunch prepared with fresh ingredients cultivated in the farm. They offer organic food cooked on a woodstove and you can also take pictures of local crops, fruits and farm animals. Get ready to enjoy the aroma and flavor of coffee dripped in a typical “chorreador”. After lunch you drive back to your lodge.

This walk is not recommended for guests with difficulties on knees, back or specific health conditions that affect mobility.

There are restrooms and changing facilities at the reception’s site only. You can change clothe before you start the descent to the waterfall.

Depart with your Spanish Speaking Driver from Arenal area to Tenorio Volcano National Park (2 hours’ drive approximately).

Tenorio National Park; the most visited destinations in the country, famous for the photographs of its trails, a waterfall, a sky-blue river, and abundant natural surroundings. The Tenorio Volcano is on the dividing line between the provinces of Alajuela & Guanacaste.

Full day at Tenorio National Park.
During your stay the following activity is scheduled; Hiking Río Celeste & Tenorio National Park- Shared Tour.

Your Local Naturalist Guide is going to meet you at the front desk at 8am and head towards the park. Once you´ve registered at the entrance, you'll start the hike through this humid forest ecosystem, with the chance to observe various animal species and exuberant flora surrounding us. Along the walk you will discover the magnificent Río Celeste waterfall, as well as the section of the river where it dyes itself into that amazing light blue coloration.
It is now known that the blue color arises due to a physical phenomenon known as Mie scattering triggered by the presence of certain minerals in the river's water that causes sunlight to reflect in such a manner that it gives the water its incredible blue.
The park is home to more than 100 bird species, and other animals like Dantas, armadillos, collared peccaries, iguanas, snakes, white-nosed coatis.

Mid-morning (9:30am approx.) you will be met by your Spanish Speaking Driver for your private transfer to Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste.

The approximate driving time from one destination to the other is 2 hours approximately.

Meaning ‘beautiful beach’ in Spanish, Playa Hermosa has made a name for itself with its idyllic beauty and lush surroundings. A two-kilometer-long grey sand beach, encircled by tropical forests and ridges of volcanic rock, Hermosa Beach is relaxed, rarely crowded, and laid back most of the year, making it a great retreat for those who wish to just lie back leisurely and enjoy the sun.

Two full days at Playa Grande.

Your Spanish Speaking Driver will pick you up and will transfer you from Hotel Bosque del Mar to the Liberia airport,  where you will be getting on time for check in purposes. (30 minutes drive approximately; private transfer).
