San José

San José is the capital.  It is in the Central Valley. The city offers many options for hotel accommodations and has several historic buildings such as the Melico Salazar Theater, National Museum, Metal Building, Children’s Museum, Costa Rican Art and Design Museum, Museum of Jade (recently renovated).

Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero National Park is a protected wilderness area on Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean coast. Originally intended to protect a major nesting beach of the Atlantic Green Sea Turtle, eleven habitats are found in. Its beaches are famous nesting grounds for sea turtles, including endangered green turtles.

The park’s freshwater creeks and lagoons, which can be navigated.  More than 320 species of birds. The marked trail along the beach is used mostly for observing turtle nesting.
Turtle Nesting Season is from mid -July to September.

Arenal Volcano National Park

The Arenal volcano is known for its hot springs, active Arenal Volcano, and wildlife, including jaguars and tree frogs.

Within the national park, short trails pass through secondary forest as well as lava fields from previous eruptions. A growing tourism industry has taken advantage of this natural resource to heat up pools and fountains for the amusement of visitors, together with activities such as mountain biking, canopy rides, horseback riding and kayaking on the lake.

Santa Teresa Beach, Nicoya Península

Playa Santa Teresa is a growing beach town that has recently been discovered as one of Costa Rica’s most spectacular beach destinations.

Famous for year-round surf and a friendly, chill vibe, this small village attracts visitors from all over the world who come to experience adventure and fun in a relaxed, tropical environment.

For many visitors surfing is the main pursuit and most of them receive their first surf lesson in Santa Teresa. Apart from challenging surf spots for experts there are also the easy-going breaks of Playa Carmen, located next of Santa Teresa Beach; both ranked among the most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica

River View Upstairs Balcony Rooms Five upstairs rooms have 1 King bed, three upstairs rooms have two full beds, two upstairs rooms have one Queen and one full bed, and two upstairs rooms have one Queen and two single beds.

Maximum occupancy is 4 guests. All rooms are non-smoking and feature free Wi-Fi, nightly turndown service, safes, hot water, rain showerheads, ceiling fans and large screened windows and private balconies/terraces so you experience the sounds of the rain forest. Also, enjoy the hammock in front of your room, two wooden chairs & small table.

Pranamar Villas is a gorgeous, intimate boutique hotel right on the water with luxury two-story villas built around a free-form saltwater pool and tropical gardens and elaborate beachfront villas. Picture Balinese architecture with bamboo, hardwoods, stone, water and plenty of windows and doors to let in fresh sea breezes.

Ocean Front Bungalow

Three spacious bungalows (1 ocean front View & 2 Garden Bungalows). They each were built in sustainable pinewood offer guests simplicity and comfort with an ecological consciousness.

In -Room: Ocean view directly in front of the beach, king bed, Garden bathroom, fans, air-conditioning, large deck with hammock and table, small living space with single sofa couch/bed, laptop size security safe, small refrigerator, and coffee maker.

Itinerary

Welcome to Costa Rica!

After passing through migration and customs, you can meet your Costa Rica Travel Adventures Transfer Guide and your Spanish  Speaking Driver.  You will  easily recognize your guide because He/She will be holding a sign with your name on. Transfer to your hotel afterwards.

Driving time is approximately 50 minutes.

Early morning pick up by your Transfer Guide and your driver at the lobby of Hotel Boutique Alta Las Palomas. Tentative pick up time(5<strong>:</strong>30am approx.). Transfer to international  airport where you will board a 25 -minute Sansa domestic flight to Tortuguero airstrip.

Upon arrival, 3 minutes river boat crossing to the lodge.

Leave early morning the lodge by boat (shared with other guests) with your local naturalist guide to explore the creeks of the National Park or join one of the available experiences included in your program which can take you deeper into the rainforest or to the nearby town. The morning hours are especially active in the rain forest when wildlife is hungry and in search of their energy source for the day.

Early afternoon; journey back through time and glimpse the fascinating history and culture of Tortuguero Village, first known as Turtle Bogue or treat yourself to the only birds-eye view of the majestic Caribbean lowlands on a two-hour intermediate-level hike up Cerro Tortuguero.

Late afternoon; you are welcome to discover the magical twilight hours of the rainforest on a two-hour walk-through Tortuga Lodge’s private 26-hectare nature reserve.  Join your fellow guests and the local naturalist guide at the front desk to be fitted with rubber boots and receive a rain poncho and flashlight.

Mid day time; three-minute River boat crossing back to Tortuguero airport where you will board an approxiamtely 45 -minute flight back to La Fortuna.

Upon arrival, your Spanish Speaking Driver will transfer you to your hotel; transfer takes 30 minutes approximately.

You are welcome to enjoy the onsite hot spring pools or ride a complimentary shuttle to Titokú Hot Springs.

Full day to enjoy and explore the Arenal area and its surroundings. During your stay the following activity is included.

<strong>Kayak in Arenal Lake</strong><strong> </strong>

It has become one of the biggest attractions in the area and beautiful addition to the landscape. Here people gather to practice fishing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, sailing, and of course kayaking.

Once you arrive at Arenal Lake’s edge, your guide will give you a quick safety talk and some kayaking techniques to set you up. Then, you will start kayaking for 2 ½ hours through different areas of the lake that can vary depending on weather and wind conditions.

While you enjoy the ride, you might see a variety of birds flying and fishing around. You can also take a refreshing swim in the lake, surrounded by many wonders as Arenal Lake is an impressive stage in every corner.

Your Spanish Speaking Driver will meet you after breakfast and will transfer you to the third spot of your vacation; relaxing beach & exciting jungle.
The approximate driving time from Arenal- Arenal Kioro to Santa Teresa is 5 hours.

Two full days to enjoy and explore at your own rhythm.

During your stay a Horseback riding tour is included- Shared Tour.
This tour promises to be a fun horseback ride, and it's perfect for first-timers and experienced riders.

Tour will be through Ario Ranch.  This is a family owned and operated ranch that protects one of Costa Rica’s most important watersheds, a turtle nesting habitat and the Caletas-Ario National Wildlife Refuge. They also  have the best horses in the area.

Enjoy a natural landscape of rivers, mountains and beaches, while you ride accompanied by local cowboys.

On the afternoon tour, you will see the spectacular sunsets that grace the Santa Teresa area.

Departure times: 8:00 a.m. / 2:30 p.m.
Length of tour: 2.5 to 3 hours

You may also consider the Montezuma falls quest on atvs, taking long hikes along picturesque coastline, bathe in tidal pools, sign up for a yoga class, surfing class, stand up paddle board.

After breakfast, depart with your Spanish Speaking Driver to the approximately 1-hour drive to the Tambor airport.
25- minute scenic Sansa domestic flight back to San José.  Upon arrival a representative from Costa Rica Travel Adventures will meet you and will transfer you to your hotel.

Your Transfer Guide and your Spanish Speaking Driver will be on time to get you to Juan Santamaría International Airport; 3 hours before your scheduled departure flight for check in purposes.

<strong>Important Note: </strong><strong>When flying or traveling by boat within Costa Rica a maximum of 30 pounds of luggage is allowed per person. </strong>

<strong>We’d be happy to assist you with the arrangements of your luggage excess.</strong>

The Trip Cost Includes

  • Accommodations, as indicated in the itinerary.
  • Meals, as mentioned in the itinerary. (B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)
  • Transfers included as indicated. Unless tours are specifically indicated as private all tour transportation are shared with other passengers and with a Spanish speaking driver.
  • When the service of a guide is listed (LG) (SG) He/ She will accompany you from A to B. They will meet and greet you on arrival at the International Airport, accompany you on some legs of your trip and then meet you again for your departure transfer. They are all Costa Rican and are happy to share their insight on with you.
  • Porterage: When the tour includes international airport transfers, the handling of two bags per person is included.
  • Taxes & Entrance Fees:
  • Hotel taxes, meal taxes (when meals are included), entrance fees to National Parks, museums and places of interest are included unless otherwise specified.
  • Sightseeing: As specified in the itinerary.
  • Pick up time: Tentative times have been added however, the exact time and additional details related to the activity are going to be confirmed to you a day prior of the activity.
