San José

San José is the capital.  It is in the Central Valley. The city offers many options for hotel accommodations and has several historic buildings such as the Melico Salazar Theater, National Museum, Metal Building, Children’s Museum, Costa Rican Art and Design Museum, Museum of Jade (recently renovated).

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

Monteverde is privileged and internationally recognized thanks to its natural exuberance. Part of the fascination generated by this beautiful area comes from its diversity of landscapes. The variety of ecosystems and virgin forests and the commitment of people to protect and enjoy them is remarkable in Costa Rica. Monteverde is a community founded by a mixture of American Quaker immigrants and Costa Rican country people. 

At the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, you can embrace the misty atmosphere, which serves as one of the most coveted ecotourism destinations in Costa Rica. The reserve has a wonderful diversity of wildlife and plant life. There is no doubt that the Monteverde Cloud Forest is a true paradise for nature lovers.

Arenal Volcano National Park

Arenal Volcano National Park is known for its hot springs, active Arenal Volcano, and wildlife, including jaguars and tree frogs.
Within the national park, short trails pass through secondary forest as well as lava fields from previous eruptions.

A growing tourism industry has taken advantage of this natural resource to heat up pools and fountains for the amusement of visitors, together with activities such as mountain biking, canopy rides, horseback riding and kayaking on the lake.

Hotel Bougainvillea

The Hotel Bougainvillea is an oasis of peace and tranquility. It’s one of the few independent hotels left in the Central Valley in Costa Rica, this well-located place overflows with personality. Mountain View

The Mountain View Rooms are Ample guestroom (36 m2 / 388 ft2) with 2 double full-sized beds, wood furniture, sitting area, shower, free Wi-Fi, and balcony.

Peninsula Room

The Peninsula Rooms are located on the lower floor of the hotel. Equipped with two queen size beds and a large terrace with outdoor seating, a hammock, and partial views of the Nicoya Peninsula and our vast gardens. Although the temperature in Monteverde is usually quite pleasant, all Peninsula Rooms also have a ceiling fan for added comfort.

Welcome to Costa Rica!

After passing through migration and customs, you can meet your Costa Rica Travel Adventures Representative with a sign with your name on.

Transfer to your hotel afterwards.  Driving time is approximately 2o minutes.

Early morning, your Naturalist Guide, and driver will meet you at the lobby of Hotel Bougainvillea for the journey to the area of Monteverde, stopping in route at the Poás Volcano National Park.

The Poás Volcano Not only has one of the largest craters in the world but is in the forests of Central Mountain Range, which boasts magnificent natural landscapes. This place lets you explore its attractions through a network of trails, especially in a cold climate tempered by a faint drizzle that most of the year is imposed.

Two-full days to enjoy and explore the Monteverde area and its surroundings. During your stay the following activities are scheduled:

Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve -Shared Tour

Early morning, pick up and  transfer by your local guide, and driver to the Monteverde Reserve (20 minutes transfer ).

Your local naturalist guide will take you on a 4.5-hour nature tour through the mountainous forest, helping you spot everything from tiny orchids on a fallen branch to camouflaged hummingbirds, bringing home the complexity of the cloud forest.

Your guide will be a wealth of information, pointing out the golden toad’s unique habitat and helping you see birds like the resplendent quetzal, the most beautiful bird in the Americas

The main purpose of this tour is to experience the incredible interconnectivity of the rich biodiversity found in the cloud forest. At the end of your hike.

The overwhelming and extensive biodiversity, vegetation and animal population make the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve an acclaimed world-wide nature refuge.

Sky Walk & Tram- Shared Tour

<strong> </strong>Live this expedition to explore and admire what one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world offers. Contemplate nature and uncover all its secrets on this nature rich package. Explore treetops, the highest points of the giant trees of the area, with views that have no end, and exclusive viewpoints on our aerial tramway adventure.

The sky tram gondolas rise smoothly through the tropical forests, offering up endless views during the mountainous ascent. Fantastic option for those who would like different approach on admiring nature.

After breakfast (pick up 7:30 am approx), depart in a shared transfer Van-Boat-Van to the area of Arenal via Lake Arenal Boat crossing. Nice combination of ground and water transportation used as a shortcut between the areas of Monteverde and La Fortuna.

Lenght of the transfer is  2 ½ hours, depending on wind and road conditions.

Full day to enjoy and explore the Arenal area and its surroundings. During your stay, the following activities would be included.

Místico Hanging Bridges & La Fortuna Waterfall- Shared Tours

Morning pick up (7:00 am approx.) by your Local Naturalist Guide and driver. Continue on an approximately 7 hours tour combination.

Tour starts at Mistico hanging bridges site, walk the trails that connect several hanging bridges over the lush rainforest of Arenal that offers the opportunity to see good views of the volcano, as well as majestic trees, flowers, birds, and mammals along the path. After completing your experience at the bridges, drive for about half an hour to your next destination; La Fortuna Waterfall.

With your guide, you descend through a forest trail and hundreds of steps, to the bottom of the ravine and the waterfall. After a few minutes from the waterfalls, you arrive at the “Vida Campesina Farm” Have the chance to try a sample of the best local typical food, based on several crops also found at the farm.

<strong><u>Important note:</u></strong>

There are NO facilities to change clothes at the waterfall. You can wear a swimsuit underneath your clothes.

Early afternoon, pick up by a Costa Rica Travel Adventures' Spanish Speaking Driver for your private journey back to the Heredia province where you will be staying overnight.
Driving time is approximately 3 hours.

Your guide and driver will be on time to get you to  Juan Santamaría International Airport airport; 3 hours before your scheduled departure flight for check-in purposes.
